One of the executive MBA students alerted me to this excellent article in the International Herald Tribune today. A French professor called Pierre Bayard has written a book called "How to talk about books you haven't read" which is proving very popular with people who wish they had more time to read. However, behind the humourous exterior lies a serious purpose. As Prof Bayard says, "I want people to learn to live with books. I want to help people organize their own paths through culture. Also, those outside the written word, those who are so attached to the image that it's difficult to bring them back."
