FAQs

How should I pay?

Please pay by credit card or cheque if possible. If you wish to pay by cash, we'll give you a quote for the price of your books, and you'll be asked to pay in the accounts department on the 2nd floor. The book store doesn't keep cash and can't give you change.

Can I reserve a book?

In the past, we've had problems with students who reserve books and then don't bother to come and buy them. As a consequence, we don't hold books in reserve, rather, we operate a "first come, first served" service, so it's important to buy your books as soon as possible. We normally buy enough books for all students who register for their classes before term starts, and usually only run out of stock if more students register late.

Can I sell my books back to the store at the end of term?

Unfortunately, the book store doesn't buy back used textbooks. If you want to sell your books, you can post a notice on Atom, or you can post a notice on the noticeboards around the campus.

What if I change my course after buying the book?

In some exceptional cases, you may have to change courses within the first week of term, and in such circumstances, we will take back unused books. However, we are unable to exchange them for cash and will offer you credit on books you may buy in the future. Please talk to the Head of Library & Research Services if you need to return an unused book.

I bought a book and never used it. Can I return it?

In most cases, we can't accept book returns after the first couple of weeks of term. Please check your syllabus and with your professor before buying your textbooks. In exceptional cases, we may be able to offer credit on books you may buy in the future.
